Stand Atlantic checked into Study Hall to talk about their time in school, their time on the first-ever idobi Radio Summer School Tour, and their brand new record, WAS HERE, which is officially out now via Hopeless Records. The album features 15 incredible tracks, with features on three of those. They’ll be heading out on the road again to support the new record.
Some experiences that really shaped bassist Miki Rich during or after high school seem to be rooted in time spent outside the classroom. As Miki recalls, “To be honest, I think I would like a couple of my friends who I’ve known for my whole life pretty much like it would be after school. We didn’t go to school together, but we knew each other from before school as well. And I feel like after school [we] would go to a garage and jam Sum 41 and blink-182 songs. And so I feel like it wasn’t ever at school. I feel like everything was kind of out of school for me personally.”

When we asked Bonnie Fraser about the most ridiculous reason she got detention, she didn’t hold back her thoughts on Mr. Norton: “I had a teacher that really hated me in year six for some reason, and he gave me detention just because I turned to my friend and spoke to them when everyone else in the class was talking. I don’t know what he thinks I said, but I got detention for that, and I was dumb. I hated that guy for the rest of my life, still hate him now.”
In addition to their new album, the group has launched their ‘80s horror/thriller-inspired music video for the focus single, “NOSE BLEED,” featuring Sueco. Check out the cinematic slasher video below and Stand Atlantic’s full Study Hall interview here.
Following the debut idobi Radio Summer School, Stand Atlantic is gearing up to hit the road in the UK and Europe to showcase WAS HERE. The group will be joined by Honey Revenge (another SST graduate) and Slowly, Slowly. Check out their full touring schedule below and grab tickets here.
