Celebrating its 16 year anniversary this month on April 29, Smartpunk Records is reissuing The Cab’s 2008 debut studio album, Whisper War. This is the first time the vinyl has been available to purchase in 15 years.
“It would be hard to talk about the legacy that is Fueled By Ramen/Decaydance without mentioning The Cab’s 2008 debut ‘Whisper War,’” Smartpunk Records Label Manager Matt Burns shares. “I remember hearing the album when it first came out and thought how incredible the production was (and still is) and the enormous hooks in the choruses. It’s hard to say whether or not The Cab brought the Deep-V, Myspace era of dance/pop punk to the masses, but they were definitely on the front lines.”
Smartpunk Records remastered the record on vinyl with exclusive, updated packaging. The re-release includes three variants: Lemonade + Black Galaxy (Smartpunk exclusive), Black Inside Light Blue (indie store exclusive), and White.

The product description reads, “After 15 years of being out of print, we’ve repressed The Cab’s Fueled By Ramen debut, Whisper War! We have re-mastered the album for vinyl and gave the packaging a little facelift… These songs are just as infectious as you remember, getting stuck in your head for weeks on end. These 12 dance-y pop songs clock in just under 45 minutes, and you’ll find yourself hard-pressed to not be tapping your toes along within the first 12 seconds. Featuring additional vocals by labelmates Brendon Urie and Patrick Stump, Whisper War is one of the most impressively produced debut records we can think of. And for those of you who had “One of THOSE Nights” as your Myspace profile song, we salute you.”
