Kikagaku Moyo – “Dripping Sun”
–
Despite Japan staying tough on marijuana, Kikagaku Moyo explores psychedelic soundscapes with grace and fervor. The English translation of their name means “geometric patterns” and in “Dripping Sun” it’s easy to see how mathematical structures form a stable foundation for the band’s creative impulses to dance around and fly through. As you crest the four-minute mark, you’ll have to decide between the stable foundation of your couch and a strong urge to dance to the groove.

Weedpecker – “Sativa Landscapes”
–
Weedpecker is loud stoner rock from Poland. “Sativa Landscapes” uses crunchy guitars and heavy bass to send visions of embryonic nebulae clashing and exploding across space to the listener. Or, maybe your vision involves the discovery of the Well-spring of Life replete with fae, dragons, gnomes, and the verdant flora of virgin woodlands. Ultimately, headphones on and eyes closed will lead you to your own unique Sativa Landscape.
