Genre-fluid artist BAYBE has officially dropped her honest (and insanely catchy) debut EP, God’s Favorite, today. In a post on her Instagram story, she shares, “Put a lot of hard work into this EP. I hope you either love it or hate it, and feel nothing in between.” We can say with certainty that we are Team Love It.
The Nashville-born artist opens up the floodgates to her thoughts and feelings on religion across the 5-track release. She unleashes the seven deadly sins on us all. The EP includes the previously released singles “Father, Son, Holy Ghost,” “Stray Dog,” and “Dinner For One,” along with unheard songs “Yes Please!” and “Love & War.” The EP as a whole features a wide range of genres that BAYBE manages to perfect from start to finish. You’re going to experience hip-hop, alt-rock, and a healthy dose of metal. Her vocals are addicting, pack a punch, and hauntingly melodic.
God’s Favorite Tracklisting:
1. Yes Please!
2. Dinner For One
3. Father, Son, Holy Ghost
4. Stray Dog
5. Love & War
BAYBE says herself, “For my first EP, I wanted to put together a collection of songs that would represent the spectrum of music I enjoy creating and listening to. I wrote these songs with the intention of touching on topics that are usually taboo, so God’s Favorite is meant to be polarizing. Judging by the response to the first singles I’d say I’ve accomplished that, and I am so excited to share the full EP today.”

If you’re feeling bored, drop God’s Favorite in your family group chat. Grandma will be adding you to her Bible Studies’ prayer list ASAP, but she’ll know deep down that your taste in music is top tier. BAYBE mentions, “There’s definitely a hidden meaning behind all of my songs. I write lines that are a bit jarring and make people a little unsure if they love or hate what they’re hearing. There’s a focus on musicality, and I work hard to be timeless.” She went on to say, “I don’t want to make anyone uncomfortable for the sake of being uncomfortable. “However, I think when any kind of art can make you question things or take a step back and laugh, that’s what I want.”
If you’re in Nashville or need an excuse to go, BAYBE is playing a release show in her hometown on May 3 at The End. You can buy your tickets here and stream BAYBE’s latest God’s Favorite below..
