By now, 2024 is in full swing, and Say Anything is making the year a little sweeter with the announcement of their forthcoming album …Is Committed. The 12-track opus will arrive on May 24 via Dine Alone Records and marks the iconic group’s first full-length record since 2019’s Oliver Appropriate. Additionally, the Max Bemis-led band has issued their latest preview of the album with “I, VIBRATOR.”
Playing into their signature irreverent humor that gained them notoriety on their acclaimed album …Is A Real Boy, “I, VIBRATOR” features a vocal interplay between Bemis and his wife, Eisley vocalist Sherri Dupree-Bemis. As Dupree sings, “I’m gonna get myself off,” her husband harmonzies, “I’m the luckiest vibrator in the trough.” Despite its humorous veneer, “I, VIBRATOR” serves as a heartfelt tribute of adoration and worship, with Bemis employing his charismatic and sensual lyricism to elevate his wife to a pedestal of reverence.

“’I, VIBRATOR’ is about wanting to be objectified as a righteous tool against the patriarchy for a particular girl to use at will,” Bemis shares of the band’s new single. “One great tool for any historically undermined person with a vagina is a disembodied, always-ready penis, a role I’m proud and lucky to play for a certain lady in my life that may have been brought up to believe sex is for dudes, and she isn’t the one with all the fucking power in the world.”

In addition to the inclusion of “I, VIBRATOR” on …Is Committed, the album will also feature previously released singles “PSYCHE!,” “ARE YOU (IN) THERE?” and “CARRIE & LOWELL & CODY (PENDENT).”
Of …Is Committed, Bemis shares, “After spending almost a decade shunning it, I simply needed to play grating emotional hardcore music because I was sad, tired, and wanted to scream and cry a lot. Maybe I’m an emo late-bloomer in that while I was jerking off to film class in West Hollywood, my fans were going through real-life traumas that I really feel like I’ve only experienced recently.
