One of the most unique bands of our generation, Say Anything is back with another brand new single, “Are You (In) There?” today. The return of this band is like running into an old friend after years apart, and it feeling like a single day hasn’t gone by. It is almost like they never left, but came back right at a time when we need them the most. This new song follows “Psyche!” that dropped earlier this summer, and we are getting everything that we have ever loved about Say Anything with a fresh and modern spin.
Frontman and mastermind behind Say Anything, Max Bemis spoke on the new track, sharing: “This is another love song for my wife, replete with the trappings that come with being in love for fifteen years for the first time, praying to Lucifer that I get another seventy-five years at the very least. Any allusions to the difficulty of being codependent, the hypocrisy of being in an emo band when you’re tired of feeling emotions, and several references to other ‘spiritual but woke’ emo bands are products of your imagination.”

Last month the band shared the news of the vinyl pressing of their early demo albums and EPs. They will be releasing Baseball, Junior Varsity EP, and Menorah/Mejora on vinyl for the first time ever through Dine Alone Records. In 2013, Say Anything released a compilation album titled All My Friends Are Enemies: Early Rarities on streaming services and CDs. It boasted a whopping 45 tracks, including all songs from the three previously mentioned projects. However, the band never pressed vinyl, so this is very exciting for fans.
