Saint Agnes Share Raucous New Track “Animal”

Saint Agnes create the sort of dark rock and roll that is readymade to incite chaos, and their upcoming new album Bloodsuckers is set to be the purest strain of that level of catharsis they have shared yet.

The latest taste of that record is “Animal”, and it’s a bit of a beast. Intense electronics clash headfirst with gritty chords and barked vocals before an all-consuming nu-metal breakdown brings everything together brilliantly. It’s raucous, rallying and raw, and will find its way under your skin in no time at all.

Vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Kitty A. Austen had this to say about it, and what it means to them:

“‘Animal’ is about waving your freak flag high. It’s about being who you authentically are inside and revelling in it. It’s a song for the misfits who boldly walk a different path with pride.”

Saint Agnes’ new album Bloodsuckers is set for release on July 21 via Spinefarm.

Kitty had this to say about what the album embodies:

“Creating this album gave me a reason to get to my feet at a time when I really wasn’t sure if I could. I’ve tried to put everything I’ve been feeling into it, all the pain, the rage, the grief, even the unexpected moments of beauty and belief. I hope it makes you feel less alone. I hope it makes you feel bigger, badder, and stronger. We might be damaged but that doesn’t mean we’re worthless. This is a record for the defeated, the crushed. We might be broken but that doesn’t mean we’re not whole. Bloodsuckers forever, Saint Agnes forever.”
