Rise Rock n’ Shine: Talkboy & Frankie + The Studs

Fresh coffee, fresh music,

it’s time to Rise Rock n’ Shine…

Who: When life gives you lemons… turn ’em into indie tunes. Leeds act Talkboy hasn’t let lockdown slow them down—instead they went to work on producing new music and gearing up for 2021.

What: Hear “Stupid Luck”, the lead single from the band’s upcoming EP.

Why: Escape the world and find a brighter place in the notes of “Stupid Luck”. The song feels like floating on a breeze—or maybe dancing your way through it. The energy is high but composed, which makes the song land in ethereal indie-pop territory. This is probably the closest you’ll ever come to riding alongside the clouds so turn it up, close your eyes, and dive in.

Who: Are we surprised Frankie + The Studs has serious rockstar power? No, not really. Frontwoman Frankie Clarke was raised on a stage thanks to her dad’s role as a guitarist in Guns N’ Roses and she’s bringing a lifetime of lessons on rocking into her LA based band.

What: Their latest single “(Not Your) Victim” has a good beat and a great message.

Why: Frankie + The Studs strip back today’s rock n’ roll sounds for a song that would be right at home on stage at CBGBs. “(Not Your) Victim” brings with it a powerful message of strength and when it’s coupled with the band’s unique flair, the song becomes timeless. You’ll be listening to this one for years to come, so you might as well start now.
