Poppy Shares Snarling New Track “Church Outfit”

After plenty of teasing, Poppy has now shared her new track and kickstarted a new creative chapter in her extraordinary story.

The track in question is “Church Outfit”, a 114-second piece of contorting, claustrophobic and chaotically forward-thinking synth-pop. Smoky, sexy and snarling in all of the right ways, it’s another unique move from an artist that has no limit on where they will travel with their sound. Matched with a haunting video, featuring some body-bending choreography and a really comfy-looking coffin, it’s a brilliantly bold move.

The track is also her first since returning to Sumerian Records, the label at which her musical journey, especially in the form we see it now, began.

Poppy had this to say about it:

“It’s an artist’s responsibility to always change. I don’t think I’d want to be in my body if I was repeating the same thing over and over again. I’m only competing with myself. I will continue to write the story until I get tired of the book. Then, I’ll write another one.”

It’s the first new music since last year’s Stagger EP, which slowed things down to a more glacial and euphoric pace. Here’s the title track:
