One Step Closer has announced their new album, All You Embrace. The hardcore group’s second LP will be released on May 17 via Run For Cover Records. In the wake of the announcement, they’ve released a new song called “Giant’s Despair.”
In the track, the band embraces shoegaze sounds with intricate hardcore chords that are re-fitted into a modern mix of emphatic emo. This is just a taste of what to expect from their upcoming full-length. Vocalist Ryan Savitski says this is who the band is on a deeper level. “I wanted to showcase One Step Closer in its fullest state.” He continues, “Every single part of the band, I wanted it to be there. I wanted us to be 100% ourselves and be as authentic to our band as we could be.”

The Pennsylvania natives collaborated with Knocked Loose’s Isaac Hale and Mat Kerkes of Citizen across three songs on the album. Guitarist Ross Thompson says this is the first time his band has done something like this when developing their songs. “They [Kerkes and Hale] helped push us and give us the courage to take some of these creative leaps.”
Fans who want to catch this tune live still have time to do so. They’re currently on a triple-headlining tour with Anxious and Koyo, featuring Stateside as support.
