With social media playing a key role in how bands interact with their fans, keeping it safe from hackers is paramount. Things do happen though, and it looks like My Chemical Romance and possibly FELICITY are the latest victims of social media hacking.
It began on Thursday, July 25, when My Chemical Romance’s Facebook profile picture was changed to a presumed different band logo. Following this, FELICITY’s profile picture was changed to a clown face across all of their social channels. Some thought they were possibly trolling the potential MCR hack. that soon changed when political posts began to be shared to the bands’ pages. The same posts appeared on My Chem’s Facebook page.
The photo collage of Keith Urban and the other posts made during the takeover of the MCR account are currently featured on FELICITY socials. It made some people wonder if the groups’ accounts really did get hacked, or if it was all just a teaser for an upcoming collaboration between the two bands.

As of Saturday, July 27, My Chemical Romance’s Facebook profile picture has been changed back to their classic MCR logo, and the hacker’s posts have been removed. Their other socials remained untouched. The group also clarified the incident on their Instagram, writing, “Our Facebook got hacked….so….don’t believe everything you read!”
However, the FELICITY Instagram account still looks to be under a hacker’s control. Whoever has been sharing updates seems to be trolling the band’s followers with their most recent post showing comments from fans demanding the user give the band their accounts back.
While some FELICITY fans do believe the band’s accounts have actually been hacked, others think it’s the band themselves having a good laugh. If it is a real hacker and not FELICITY playing jokes, we hope they can get their accounts back soon.
