ILLENIUM has just released a self-titled album, further cementing his love and appreciation for alternative culture. Featuring appearances from everyone from Avril Lavigne and jxdn to Teddy Swims and Spiritbox, it is a melding of worlds and musical styles that is as captivating as it is crushing.
And another big moment comes in the form of “Nothing Ever After”, a collaboration with the unstoppable Motionless In White. A band that have electronics at the centre of their sound, and always have, in a big way, to hear their industrial groove locking horns with the atmospheric unpredictability of EDM is a total treat.
And in the case of this particular crossover, ILLENIUM is able to delve into the more industrial side of his sound as well. Every wob and drop is plated with pure steel, before he delivers a build and conclusion that feels like the gates of Heaven opening in front of you.
And then there is Chris Motionless, who still manages to trigger goosebumps with his undeniable voice, bringing all of the emotional and honesty that has made him one of the scene’s most recognisable and iconic voices, leaving no stone unturned.
It’s an absolute beast in so many ways and a combination that is more than perfect. Here’s hoping that it keeps the door wide open for more collaborations like this to come to life.
As an extra treat, here is Spiribox and ILLENIUM joining forces on the incredible “Shivering”:
Motionless In White released their latest album, Scoring The End Of The World, last year. Here is the sensational “Werewolf”:
