It’s officially Halloween weekend, and you know what that means: scary movies, last-minute trips to the costume shop, and eating your way through all of the trick-or-treat candy. Lucky for us, this weekend also means new music from Magnolia Park, who just released their sophomore record, Halloween Mixtape II.
Taking inspiration from the season’s spooky imagery, the alt-rock powerhouse explores the heavier aspects of their sound while weaving in pop, hip-hop, and theatre-emo musical stylings through Halloween Mixtape II. Yet, the diversity of Magnolia Park’s sound never feels disjointed or disingenuous. It’s heavy and dark while maintaining the band’s signature hopeful tone. There is always a light at the end of the tunnel.
“No matter how dark the world gets or how broken you feel, don’t lose the light inside you,” the band writes.

To add even more excitement to their release, Magnolia Park dropped a music video for their new song “Candles.” Staying true to their passion for crafting high-quality productions, the band performs the track in a candlelit house that fans of American Horror Story and True Blood may recognize. The haunting visual pairs perfectly against the track’s plucky synthesizers, big-band trumpets, and larger-than-life drums. Reminiscent of Panic! At The Disco’s debut release in its theatrics and attitude, “Candles” is the perfect introduction to fans who are diving into Halloween Mixtape II.
It has been a massive year for Magnolia Park. Currently wrapping up their U.S. headlining tour, the band has been receiving major praise for their 2023 releases.
The band ends their headlining tour on October 29 in Cincinnati, OH, before making their way down under for some major performances in Australia. Check out their upcoming performances below and stream Halloween Mixtape II by Magnolia Park here.
