In a series of unfortunate events, the lawsuit against Live Nation has been dropped by federal courts. In case you missed it, the ticketing platform was being sued over monopolizing ticket sales. This became widely talked about after the mess that was Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour sale. However, the lawsuit is being dismissed simply because customers sign a waiver when creating an account that takes away their right to sue.
The judge in the ruling said, “At three independent stages, when creating an account, signing into an account, and completing a purchase, Ticketmaster and Live Nation webpage users are presented with a confirmation button above which text informs the user that, by clicking on this button, ‘you agree to our Terms of Use’.”
We all know none of us read the fine print in those situations but this is when it comes back to bite us. Of course, Live Nation takes no real responsibility in the matter. They’ve shifted the blame and will probably keep doing what they’re doing.
