While the confirmation is validating, very few are surprised. Blake Lively was one of the earliest callouts for Lady Deadpool, alongside Taylor Swift. As an accomplished actor and Ryan Reynolds’ wife, Lively has been a shoo-in from day one and the internet knows it. Earlier this week, a set photo shared by Lively on Instagram featuring her kissing Reynolds while he was in full Deadpool makeup shook the internet for the final time. The caption praised him for using their love as inspiration in co-writing the Deadpool & Wolverine film, but the comments immediately swelled with speculation of her role as Lady Deadpool.

Surprised or not, it’s clear that fans could not be more supportive of the decision. Comments sections and threads from Twitter to Reddit have seen many manifesting this for months now. Moviegoers are elated to see Reynolds and Lively’s chemistry transcend their marriage. And now that the cat’s out of the bag, we’re all hoping for a Deadpool & Lady Deadpool movie as soon as deadly possible!

Marvel Studios Deadpool & Wolverine featuring Blake Lively as Lady Deadpool opens in the U.S. tomorrow, July 26 with early screenings across all major cities today. Grab your tickets here, and don’t forget to jam out to the Deadpool & Wolverine official soundtrack, featuring Green Day! You can also catch the talented Blake Lively in the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s  It Ends With Us movie, opening on August 9 in U.S. theaters.
