Inking a deal with Epitaph Records, indie-rock sensation late night drive home has unveiled a captivating new music video for their 2021 viral hit, “Stress Relief.” The track appeared on the group’s acclaimed five-track EP, Am I Sinking Or Am I Swimming? Officially gracing streaming platforms in September 2021, the track has garnered more than 60 million streams since its release.

Hailing from El Paso, TX, the Latin-led four-piece—comprised of lead singer Andre Portillo, guitarist Juan “Ockz” Vargas, bassist Freddy Baca, and drummer Brian Dolan—reflects on the bilingual track’s success. Despite their gratitude, they view “Stress Relief” as a deeply personal creation originating from their bedroom. The band shares, “We still really can’t understand the success of ‘Stress Relief.’ Of course, we are grateful, though to us we still see it as the song that we made in our bedroom. It’s a very personal track, and we are just glad it was able to resonate [with] everyone as much as it did with us while creating it.”

Leaning into the indie-rock tonality of late night drive home, the track intertwines together lo-fi beats, synths, and dynamic drum work. Accompanied by a visually mesmerizing video-in-a-video visualizer, “Stress Relief” weaves an introspective and atmospheric soundscape. The track exudes a nostalgic aura, capturing the essence of garage rock revivalists akin to the raw energy of The Strokes and the sonic finesse of Arctic Monkeys. With each note, the band skillfully navigates the echoes of the past while injecting a contemporary twist into the track. As the title suggests, it serves as a sonic remedy, offering solace and an emotional release. Check out the official video for late night drive home’s “Stress Relief” below.
