Travis Barker isn’t the only one with musical genes in the Barker family. Landon Barker, is introducing his unique voice and artistry to the world on his debut single, “Friends With Your EX.” Recently announcing his record deal with DTA Records, the pop-punk songwriter’s single tells the story of falling in love with your friend’s ex. The thrill of the new relationship, mixed with the anxiety of everyone finding out, is enough to keep you up at night.
Reminiscent of YUNGBLUD and Machine Gun Kelly, Barker’s storytelling is driven by gritty guitars and catchy vocal melodies that allow his lyrics to stand as the focal point. The chorus reads like a confession directed towards the artist’s new girl: “I was friends with your ex/You were with him when we met/Guess he hasn’t found out yet/But I know he’s gonna kill me when he sees me with you.” The listener can hear Barker’s inner turmoil through every word he recites.
The “Friends With Your EX” music video epitomizes a coming-of-age movie and includes references to iconic films like ‘The Notebook’ and ‘The Perks Of Being A Wallflower.’ Set to the picture-perfect California view, each clip shows Barker navigating love and friendship. From the romantic house party moment with his real-life girlfriend, Charli D’Amelio, to the awkward band practice, the video shows the complexities of young love without the cliches. It is a universally relatable portrait of the young adult experience.

But the pop-punk artist doesn’t just have one song up his sleeve. Opening for his dad’s iconic band blink-182 as well as Turnstile this summer, Barker performed a set of unreleased bangers. Opening with “Friends With Your EX” and closing with “die in california” by Machine Gun Kelly, the performance gave fans a taste of what to expect.
“So beyond grateful for the opportunity to have performed these last few shows,” Landon shares via Instagram. “Thank you to everybody that showed me genuine energy and support on those stages I can’t wait for you guys to see what I have coming.”
His dad even commented on the photo dump. “Proud of you my boy!!!” he writes.
