Kim Petras Serves Up A Fresh Surprise With ‘Problématique’

Not content with just releasing one album in 2023, Kim Petras has shared her second in the form of Problématique. It’s been quite the year for Kim already. She kicked things off by becoming the first transgender artist to win a GRAMMY alongside Sam Smith with “Unholy“. Then came Feed The Beast in June, an unflinching and untamed piece of pop brilliance. Then there is the small matter of her world tour, which will see her bringing her unique show to the US, Canada, the UK and Europe. Though, for now, we have this lovely surprise, one that many thought would never see the light of day.

Problématique was initially shelved due to it partially leaking back in 2021. Though with its release now, it shows off where Kim’s mind was back then and how far she has travelled to where she is now. The album features ten tracks, heavily influenced by European club culture. Focused mainly on French house sounds, Kim delivers dancefloor fillers aplenty. There’s the funky bass of the title track, the escapist hedonism of “All She Wants“, which features Paris Hilton, and the intimate thrills of “Confession“. It’s fun, freeing and fabulous, shimmering with late-night intensity and euphoric electricity.

It represents a moment of reclamation for Kim Petras. Delivering a record that clearly meant the world to her on her terms, and in the middle of the biggest moment of her career, it’s a statement of celebration. These are tracks made for the good times, and these are definitely VERY good times.

Kim Petras will be beginning her world tour at the end of September. Kicking off in Las Vegas at Life Is Beautiful Festival she will travel all around the country. Finishing in San Diego at the end of November, she will then be back out in Europe in 2024. From Birmingham to Brussels, Milan to Manchester, she is going to be everywhere.
