Inbox Jukebox #171: Chloe Lilac, Kid Baron

…This is the Inbox Jukebox:

Chloe Lilac – “how does your girlfriend feel about it”

“how does your girlfriend feel about it” is a whirlwind of pop-punk—it’ll slap you with a backhand and get you bouncing on a backbeat. Chloe Lilac isn’t about to snitch but she is asking the hard questions, her vocals are raspy and outraged and so very danceable. Meanwhile, the track whirls you around with a sound that makes it instantly soundtrack-ready and playlist addable. We don’t know whether to punch the air or pump our fists. Can we do both? Hell yeah, we’re ’bout to!

Kid Baron – “Work It Somehow”

You’ll want to sing along to “Work It Somehow” from the moment you start listening. There is something immediately recognizable about this nostalgic guitar-driven track. It’s super sticky, for sure. It also makes you want to go “make memories” just like the lyrics say. Perhaps it’s the grunginess of the instrumentation, the melancholy of the vocals, or the wind-in-your-hair melody. Whatever it is you’re about to nod your head to this one and let it ride.
