Following the release of “Beg For More,” In Her Own Words is offering their new punchy pop-punk single, “Story Of Us” via Thriller Records. The rousing Jayden Seeley-produced track was “cathartic to write” the band says—and yes, it’s relatable AF.

Of the new track lead vocalist Joey Fleming explains, “‘Story Of Us’ is a song about feeling torn between decisions and the mental gymnastics you go through during an on-again-off-again relationship, even though you know in the back of your mind what the outcome is going to be at the end of it all.”

If you are utterly obsessed with In Her Own Words‘ latest offering—because, of course, you are—rest assured that this is just a glimpse of what’s in store this year. “Thanks for sticking with us through it all, and if you’re new here, welcome to the party,” the band notes on Instagram. Fingers crossed that tour dates are in the works, too.

“This new era of the band feels like what I’ve been trying to accomplish since I joined,” Fleming adds. “Andretti and I click on so many levels in the studio, and I feel like I’ve finally found my place as a songwriter. It’s finally translating into the music.”

And if you are a pop-punk musician looking for some advice for your own project, Fleming has you covered, too. “I would tell my younger self to not worry so much about failure or what people will think about what I’m doing,” he says. “Just do what I know how to do and let things fall into place.”
