2024 is the year of IDLES. The British punk band has been sharing dazzling singles including “Dancer,” “Gift Horse,” and “Grace” ahead of their LP release TANGK, due out on February 16. Of course, the album release will be followed up by a year-long world tour, hitting much of North America, Europe, and the UK. As we wait to hear the full record, IDLES dropped one more music video for “Grace,” and they’re following in the footsteps of Coldplay.
If you recall Coldplay‘s iconic “Yellow” music video of Chris Martin walking down the beach in the early morning, this “Grace” music video will look familiar. Lead singer Joe Talbot notes that this idea came to him in a dream. With the help of deepfake AI and Coldplay‘s team, the music video crew made it appear like a young Chris Martin is singing “Grace.”
Interestingly, Martin didn’t only agree to IDLES‘ idea for the video, he also helped train the AI to look even more realistic. Check out the music video below and pre-order TANGK here.
