Ahead of their Side Effects EP, House Parties is unleashing their brand-new track “Mid-Life Crisis” paired with trippy new visuals.
The song follows their October release “Braindead,” a fiery track featuring the one and only Derek DiScanio of State Champs as a producer. In fact, he produced the whole House Parties Side Effects EP alongside Seth Henderson. If you loved “Braindead” or early 2023’s “CAUTIOUS,” you have to add “Mid-Life Crisis” to your playlist ASAP. Check out the new track below.
Overall, the band details feeling stuck in time and overwhelmed, a common feeling for several Gen Z individuals. “This song is for anyone who’s felt like they’ve had a mid-life crisis in their twenties. When everything is falling apart and you just can’t catch a break,” House Parties says.
Last month, the band signed with Equal Vision Records and is sharing their first EP on the label. “Ultimately, all of these songs come from a very personal place,” vocalist Chaney Elaine says. “A song like ‘Get A Grip’ deals with that nagging negative voice in your head—the one that tells you, ‘You’re annoying. You’re not good enough. You’re a burden.’ Sometimes you need to get a grip and realize you’re not a terrible person. ‘Waterworks’ is about how we try so hard to hide our insecurities, but at the end of the day, you still have to go home and look at yourself in the mirror. You can fool everyone else, but you can’t fool yourself.”
You can pre-save the Side Effects EP here, which arrives on January 19, 2024.
