Green Day has announced the arrival of American Idiot 20th Anniversary Deluxe edition—which feels too perfectly timed with the forthcoming election. The deluxe release is scheduled to drop on October 25, 2024, a little more than 20 years after the original album was released on September 21, 2004. You can preorder and pre-save American Idiot 20th Anniversary Deluxe edition here.
With the release, Green Day has curated a variety of limited-edition box sets available in eight vinyls and 4 CDs, and each box set also includes two Blu-ray discs. The deluxe collection will also feature 15 unreleased American Idiot demos, 14 songs previously available only as B-Sides and bonus tracks, live tracks from their 2004 Irving Plaza performance, and 9 previously unreleased live recordings.
Of the deluxe release, the band shares on their social platforms, “In the summer of 2004, Green Day entered the studio with Rob Cavallo to create American Idiot, uncertain of what the future held. They were audacious, rebellious, and stressed out by the state of the country at the time. American Idiot was crafted as a response to the daily bombardment of media that spreads it far and wide, making us desensitized and weary -filled with themes that still ring true today, even 20 years later.

When they made this record, they couldn’t foresee the impact that was to come—23 million copies sold, 6x platinum, multiple GRAMMYs, a Broadway musical, and so much more.
The album turns a whole 20 years old this year, and you know they’ve cracked open the vaults for a very special 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition that comes out on October 25th.”
Green Day is currently on the road celebrating 30 years of Dookie and 20 years of American Idiot, performing both albums in full on the Saviors Tour. You can check out the remainder of their touring schedule below and purchase tickets here.
