Following the release of mid-Nay’s “Mourning Time,” Future Teens are back with a new single, “Double Down,” featuring a very introspective narrative.
Vocalist and guitarist Amy Hoffman says, “I’ve never written songs about my identity before now, despite Future Teens being so integral to me embracing myself as an out, visibly trans man. I grew up in the church in a small city in Missouri where I was ridiculed for not adhering to expectations of girlhood, and other kids’ parents speculated about my gender and sexuality long before I had any idea what those words meant.”
Hoffman continues, “I protected myself by refusing to let anyone see it affect me – and burying it all until I couldn’t anymore. ‘Double Down’ is the song about trans joy that I needed when I was a girl wondering why I couldn’t make myself feel like one, and I hope it can be a similar balm for anyone else that might need it.”
Future Teens and Maura Weaver are currently supporting Aaron West And The Roaring Twenties on the second half of their U.S. tour. Check out the full list of remaining dates below and grab your tickets here.
