No matter how much new Frank Iero music we get, it’s never quite enough—at least for this writer. Today, the New Jersey legend has announced the 10th Anniversary edition of Stomachaches, titled XNauseousX.
Released on August 26, 2014, this album marked Iero’s debut as a solo artist following My Chemical Romance’s undefined hiatus. Now, its 10th-anniversary edition is set to drop on August 30. Additionally, Iero has unleashed a brand new single, “This Song Is A Curse…”
“It’s pretty wild having to sit down and think about putting together a 10-year anniversary edition of a record that you originally had zero intentions of releasing,” Iero shares. “First off, I can’t believe it’s been 10 years, damn time really does fly by. And second, I’m still shocked anyone cares… but I suppose if my original plan was to make a time capsule for my kids to discover, funnily enough, it all kind of worked out. I’ve had a fun time digging through old hard drives, finding recordings, photos, and videos of that time and place. I suppose, in a lot of ways, I’m still that person, but in many cases, I am not. I truly believe that everything we have gone through and experienced gets us to the place where we currently reside, and I honestly wouldn’t change one second of it.”

He continues, “‘XNauseousX’ compiles everything put to tape from the Stomachaches era. From the first song I released as a solo artist, “This Song Is A Curse…” as well as the first 7 inch release, ‘For Jamia.’ All the way through home-recorded and mixed B-sides and the Cellabration’s entire BBC Maida Vale session. You even get my homemade interpretation of Green Day’s Extraordinary Girl, which was panned by almost all of the internet but remains one of my favorite things I ever made. (Thank you James and Kerrang! for asking me to do this one. I still think the internet was wrong and I was right.) For better or worse this is a time capsule, now fully complete and unearthed. I hope it finds you well, and makes you smile more than it makes you frown.”
Performed and produced by Frank Iero, the track recruits longtime collaborators Jarrod Alexander (A Static Lullaby, My Chemical Romance, Gerard Way) on drums and James Dewees (The Get Up Kids, Reggie And The Full Effect). Check out “This Song Is A Curse…” below.
Opening with “This Song Is A Curse…,” the 12-track collection will feature several covers, BBC Maida Vale Studios sessions, and never-before-heard tracks. You can pre-save the album here and preorder a limited edition vinyl here.
