Foo Fighters are gearing up to release their new album, But Here We Are, early next month. June 2nd, to be exact. The first body of music they have created since the passing of their drummer Taylor Hawkins in 2022, it’s set to be an emotional and raw experience. But aside from the teaser tracks, “Rescued” and “Under You”, being absolutely wonderful, the next question has been who will be playing the drums for the band when they hit the stage now. And the band revealed it in the most Foo Fighters way possible.

As part of a special live stream, Foo Fighters: Preparing Music for Concerts, they teased who would be hitting the skins for them from their iconic Studio 606. Featuring appearances from Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith, Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee and Tool’s Danny Carey, it was finally revealed that Josh Freese would be joining the Foos for the foreseeable.

Josh has spent his career playing drums for some of the greats. He’s been a member of The Vandals since 1989 and Devo since 1996. He has also toured with The Offspring, Paramore, 100 gecs, Weezer, Nine Inch Nails and loads more. Basically, he is the perfect man for the job.

You can check out the live stream event for the next 72 hours, which features a whole load of first plays of tracks from But Here We Are, right here.
