flowerkid Reveals Shimmering New Track “Diss and Disappoint”

flowerkid has shared their first new music of 2023, and they have kicked things off with an incredible bang. Hailing from Sydney, sunshine is stitched into every song that Flynn Sant produces, but when it comes to “Diss and Disappoint”, there are a fair few clouds in the sky as well.

Bright and breezy on the surface, lyrically, this is a song routed in emotion. Written about watching somebody that means the world to you changing right before your eyes, and not always for the better, there is a gloom to the track that lingers long after it has faded away. Capturing the angst of friendship and hardships of growing up whilst also managing to be undeniably catchy, it’s a wonderful starting point for what is sure to be a special year. And with a debut album in the works, there is plenty to be excited about.

Flynn had this to say about where the track came from:

Diss And Disappoint’ is a song about a special person in your life becoming somebody else,” shares flowerkid. “The little things that made you fall for them in the first place, have slowly evaporated into thin air. They become someone that you no longer respect. A Lot of the time, I feel as though their words and actions follow me around wherever I go, and I can’t seem to escape it.”

It is the first proper new music from flowerkid since the release of their 2021 EP everyone has a breaking point. That release featured the likes of “vodka orange juice”, which sounds a lot like this:
