“Where do I even start?” metal vocalist Corey Taylor begins in a new candid video shared to his social platforms yesterday evening, January 24. Earlier this month, the “Wait And Bleed” singer canceled a majority of his 2024 solo tour due to his “mental and physical health.” In the new video on his Instagram, he opened up about some of those struggles.

Taylor has been sober since 2003, and in his statement, he explains what almost pushed him back into old habits. “I, over the last year, have had a complete and utter breakdown of boundaries, mental health, ego, entitlement…culminating in a very, very real, very near relapse, that I now don’t recognize myself.” The update continues with him explaining that he understands why fans are upset about the cancelation, but reiterates that he needed the space to heal and “reset.”

While all of his U.S. dates were canceled, he says that he kept four shows in Asia due to them only being a week long. Taylor says he will take each show “day by day.” In the meantime, he is practicing self-care and surrounding himself with his family. “I’m just doing the best for me right now. And it’s a long road. I don’t know what’s at the end of it, but I look forward to it.”

He includes an apology to fans about dropping the tour and says, “I hope you can show me some patience.”

On the initial post, fans and acts took to the comments to show their support. Metal band In This Moment said, “We all support you, and we are surrounding you with a circle of love & light. Your health comes first always.” Disturbed frontman David Draiman also offered words of kindness, “Stay strong, my dear brother. We all love you. Take care of yourself. Take all the time you need. The fans will be there…whenever you are ready. Keep fighting.”

We at idobi Radio hope that Corey Taylor continues to take the time he needs in order to take care of himself and steps back on stage when he’s good and ready!
