Cassadee Pope is giving us another glimpse into what to expect on her forthcoming record Hereditary, which arrives on July 12. Today, the “Three Of Us” singer shared a dazzling collab with “The Rap Girl” Daisha McBride, “I Died.”

In fact, the unique genre collab came from Pope shooting her shot on social media. “I remember DMing Daisha on a whim last year, letting her know I was a fan and would love to write sometime,” she says on Instagram. “Not only did we get a great song together but we both got a new friend in the end.”

Additionally, McBride shares that she was excited to expand her horizons. “This collab was so fun to do and I’m glad Cass and I could make this happen! Even though I’m a rapper I love dipping into other genres and experimenting so this was right up my alley,” she says. “Nashville is so well-known for just country music so I’m glad we could merge rock and hip hop AND do it out of Nashville.”

If you’re looking for a refreshing breakup anthem, “I Died” is the track for you fusing modern rock vocals with clever rap verses. Check out the collab below.

Of her forthcoming album, Pope notes, “My new album Hereditary offers a soundtrack to navigate the complexities of life with authenticity and courage. I couldn’t think of a better backdrop for these lyrics than pop/punk and I hope this album gives people permission to feel everything.”
