As Carly Cosgrove prepares for the release of their forthcoming full-length album, The Cleanest Of Houses Are Empty, which will arrive via Wax Bodega on June 14, the Philadelphia natives has unveiled their new single, “Fluff My Pillow.”
Singer/guitarist Lucas Naylor shares, “‘Fluff My Pillow’ puts a spin on lethargy by portraying it in an enticing way.” Opening through a gentle yet steady array of guitar strums and muted drums, “Fluff My Pillow” quickly transforms into a pop-punk rallying cry of romanticization. The track continues to grow with fervor and becomes a sonic assault of vocal coos. Check out “Fluff My Pillow” below.
Of their forthcoming album release, Naylor says, “This is an album about habit, familiarity, unfamiliarity, depression, lethargy, and self-reflection.”
“We purposely wanted to make a big, very live-sounding record,” drummer Tyler Kramer adds. “Our live show is the best way to hear our music because of the energy we’re able to harness on stage. It can be hard to translate to an album, so we specifically worked in a room we knew could capture that.”
“We worked to balance guitar work with rhythm, lyrics, and melody rather than doubling down on music theory,” bassist Helen Barsz shares. “Lucas was coming up with some of his heaviest, strongest lyrical work, and that allowed us to move toward alternate chord voicings and the more harmonic side of things.”
