Brooklane is here with their brand-new single “Vacancy,” ushering in a new era for the North Dakota-based pop-punk outfit.

This marks the band’s first 2024 offering, and is preceded by June 2023’s Stay Toxic EP and July 2023 single “Vampire.”

Brooklane began teasing the track in late January 2024, and have been diligently sharing both emotional and meme-able Instagram Reels ahead of the release. “Rising from the fall/I never think of you at all/It just makes more sense/A little less tense/I’m finding me/And after all, I won’t be waiting for a call/When he’s through with you/You search for truth/Can find it in your vacancy,” the chorus says. Check out the urgent, heartbreaking emo-tinged pop-punk song below.

Of the new single, the band shares via a press release, “‘Vacancy’ is about overcoming someone you thought you loved that sucked the life out of you, and now after separating yourself from the relationship you finally see it more clearly and who that person really was and how it actually affected you. You basically realize that when you’re no longer together that person has no power over you and it feels amazing to live out your life with no insane repercussions.”

If this takes you back to your favorite pop-punk albums from years past, there might be a good reason for that. In fact, Derek DiScanio from State Champs and Seth Henderson co-produced “Vacancy.”
