Beauty School Dropout has released a reimagined version of their single “one night stand you” via Verswire. The original version is off of their latest album, READY TO EAT. Last week, they released a black-and-white music video for the track.
Vocalist Colie Hutzler is authentically raw in his delivery. While the original song is more poppy and pointed, the acoustic take illustrates a quiet pain. Listening to either style, the meaning of the overall single doesn’t change. Hutzler explains, “Much like drugs, I believe love (or lust) is a substance that can just as easily be turned into a crutch to alleviate the pains of life.”

He continues, “Admittedly not the healthiest approach to romance but undeniably something I think we’ve all experienced one way or another. ‘one night stand you’ is about compromising your own standards for someone who is not worth the time nor energy.”
While there’s no video for this new take on the track, fans can watch the music video for it with all the instrumentals included. The lyrics are gut-punching through reminders of how unhealthy relationship cycles are. “I spoke to god/He answered all my prayers/Leaving me with you was so unfair,” reiterates the hopeless feeling of a neverending nightmare of bad decisions in the name of romance to avoid loneliness.
The Los Angeles, CA-based act has been quiet in the new year. Besides posting some covers on their TikTok, we’re all left wondering: what’s next on their agenda? They haven’t dropped any other show dates for 2024, yet, but will make a stop at So What?! Music Fest in June. One thing is for sure: whatever they’re planning next, it’s going to have an impressive impact on the music scene.
