The scene’s hottest alt-rockers, Beauty School Dropout, have shared an intoxicating music video for their anthemic 2023 single, “one night stand you.” The track appeared on the three-piece’s 9-track sophomore album, READY TO EAT, which arrived courtesy of Verswire on October 13, 2023.
The music video kicks off in color, as it showcases vocalist Colie Hutzler’s dragging his signature hot-pink gaff taped mic across the dusty ground. However, the scene quickly fades and transitions into a striking black and white visual. The black and white overlay of the video further cements the central theme of the track, which is that sometimes you’ll compromise your own standards and settle for something less than what you’re worth in an unhealthy relationship. Further relayed through the poignant lines, “I spoke to god/He answered all my prayers/Leaving me with you was so unfair,” “one night stand you” emerges as an acknowledgment of these poor relationship patterns.

“Much like drugs, I believe love (or lust) is a substance that can just as easily be turned into a crutch to alleviate the pains of life,” Hutzler shares of the track.
He continues, “Admittedly not the healthiest approach to romance. But undeniably something I think we’ve all experienced one way or another. ‘one night stand you’ is about compromising your own standards for someone who is not worth the time nor energy.”
