Ashton Irwin has officially released his EP The Thorns, which serves as the first half of his forthcoming BLOOD ON THE DRUMS album due out on July 17. Across the EP’s eight tracks, Irwin serves modern rock-infused sonics and sunny indie pop vocals worthy of all your beach day playlists.

On June 12, Irwin posted, “Waking up with ‘THE THORNS’ being out today is euphoric for me!!!!! So how do you like pt1 of BLOOD ON THE DRUMS,” on Twitter/X. Fans shared that they were proud of the drummer and vocalist, with some listeners touting it as the album of the summer.

Alongside the release of The Thorns, the 5 Seconds Of Summer artist also unleashed the visuals for “Breakup” with devilishly sexy car rides and temptation-filled late-night hangs. “Breakup right now/You should be with me now/Let the power of seduction be your friend/Sink your teeth into a night that never ends,” he sings. Check out the official “Breakup” video below.
