alt. are about to release their debut full-length album ABEYENCE via Resist Records and SharpTone Records. Set to be a stunning blend of all varieties of alternative music, you only have one week to wait until you hear the whole thing. But for now, the band have shared one more taster to tide you over. And if your appetite wasn’t already whetted, then you’re going to be chomping at the bit now.
The track is called “FRIENDINTHEDARK” and is as dark and atmospheric as it gets. Ethereal synths and crystalline vocals weave above and below each other in perfect harmony. But don’t get too comfortable, as it’s heading straight for your neck when you least expect it. The poetry, the power and the precision of the track are undeniable. You’re going to want to wrap it around your throat again and again.

Vocalist Daniel Cullen-Richards had this to say about it:
FRIENDINTHEDARK came about when someone I know was auditioning for a role in a teen slasher film during COVID when everything was being filmed in Australia. The idea excited me and brought to mind the movies I grew up watching as a kid like Scream, Freddy Vs Jason and I Know What You Did Last Summer, etc. That inspired me straight away and I put myself in the slasher film and wrote the lyrics in five minutes about a character who is at threat by any of their friends to be the victim in our song.”
As we mentioned, alt. will be sharing ABEYENCE with you on June 16. It will also feature the bludgeoning “APEP”, which features a chaotic feature from the unstoppable Jack Bergin of Void Of Vision.
