Florida-based band 408 is back with an explosion of fiery pop-punk bangers. Generational, is a collection of songs you would find playing in the background of your favorite early-2000s coming-of-age movie. Including their beloved TikTok single, “We Don’t Get High Like We Used To,” the EP proves that they are more than content creators. They are artists in their own right, blending the goofy energy and relatable lyrics of blink-182. Their influence glimmers through every track.

A standout track on the EP is “Carousel,” which highlights a surprisingly Midwest emo sound. It’s an emotional end to the project about being left by the person you love. When vocalist Mark Faroudi sings, “White lies filling up an empty room/Before I left my house I really wish I knew it wasn’t good enough/I guess it wasn’t good enough for you,” you feel the pain in his voice. It is palpable and the sentiment stings through every syllable. The song leaves the listener wanting more, giving them the incentive to jam to the EP in its entirety again.

The music video for the EP’s title track pays tribute to the astronaut-themed cover art and shows the band playing an alien-themed house party. Chaos ensues but it’s the best kind, as friends and fans jump and dance to the energetic drumbeat and anthemic gang vocals. Red solo cups, alien dolls, and glow sticks fill the room, reminding listeners that 408 is the quintessential feel-good unit. Taking a cue from Tom DeLonge’s stage presence, the passion for what they are doing shines through each of the band members’ faces.

In addition to the new EP, 408 is joining Magnolia Park and Virginia’s Broadside for some fun August gigs. Kicking things off in Birmingham, AL, and ending the run in Virginia Beach, VA, the weekend marks some of the biggest shows the band has played yet.
