Sophie Powers — “head empty no thoughts”

After sharing the song live at Warped Tour DC, Sophie Powers has officially revealed her new single, “head empty no thoughts.” And it’s a song you need in your rotation ASAP. She says, “There’s nothing more painful than a one-sided conversation. This song is the equivalent of being stuck on the worst date of your life with an absolute airhead. It’s blunt, honest, and just a little too relatable.”

She adds “On a more serious note, I (and so many others) have felt the pressure to dumb ourselves down in relationships or certain situations, and it always sucks. This song is a reminder to never hide your intelligence for the sake of someone else. If they can’t communicate on your level, they don’t deserve your time.” — Maria Serra

Frame And Mantle — “Green Grove Zone”

Pittsburgh post-emo quartet Frame And Mantle shared their new track “Green Grove Zone.” Excitingly, the tracks will all appear on the group’s sophomore album, Well of Light, on June 27. “The music on our new full-length album, Well of Light, evokes feelings of being surrounded and consumed by shadows, with only slivers of lightness peeking through the canopy above,” guitarist and songwriter Brian Thompson says. “This idea is further bolstered by the album art, which was inspired by the Lisheen House, an abandoned manor in the Irish countryside that has been completely overtaken by trees.” You can pre-order your copy of the record here. — Maria Serra

I Prevail — “Into Hell”

The polar opposite of their last single, “Violent Nature,” “Into Hell” shows fans just how great a tandem vocalist Eric Vanlerberghe and guitarist/vocalist Dylan Bowman are going to be from a melodic and singing perspective in I Prevail. This is an all-time performance from Vanlerberghe and a perfect showcase of how much he has grown as a vocalist. —Patrick Walford

Darro — “what’s good”

Darro is serving up a classic pop-punk tune this week with “what’s good,” and it shares a very important story. “This song is about betting it all on myself after life nearly took everything away,” the artist says. “It’s my story of surviving a brain tumor, starting over from scratch, and chasing my dream with nothing but grit and hope. It’s pop-punk at its core—but with a fresh, polished edge we call ‘posh-punk.’” — Maria Serra

Krooked Tongue — “You Don’t Need A Sun Tan”

Krooked Tongue, Bristo’s alt-rock trio on the rise, just released their new single, “You Don’t Need A Sun Tan.” Vocalist Oli Rainsford states, “The idea behind ‘You Don’t Need A Sun Tan’ came about after visiting the town I grew up in one summer weekend. Meeting up with your old mates, getting leathered at the pub, and realising that everything is almost exactly how it was when you left. Sure, there’s a new wave of people, the next generation of Wetherspoons patriots, but nothing ever really changes, and it’s a double-edged sword.”

The artist adds, “It’s a reminder of why you left to begin with, to see the world, get out of the bubble, and head to the city. But there’s also a sense of belonging, being back with ‘your’ people. A certain comfortability that comes with heading back to the old stomping ground. It’s an ode to that message, not one that’s positive or negative, just merely an observation. I think ‘Sun Tan’ also acts as a word of encouragement for people to get out from under the weight of what they know, and discover what they don’t know yet.” — Maria Serra
