rosecoloredworld — “all we had”

For fans of anyone who sings the backup vocals in Fall Out Boy’s “Sugar We’re Goin Down.”

After inking a deal with Velocity Records ahead of their fall tour with Not My Weekend, rosecoloredworld unleashed their soaring single, “all we had.” Laced with poignant, poetic lyricism and anchored by the vocal interplay of frontperson Rae and guitarist Addison Scott, the group showcases the high-level prowess of a seasoned alt-emo group. With lines like, “I’m still stuck with my finger on the trigger/Staring me down is a barrel of a gun,” all we’re saying is… Pete Wentz would absolutely approve! —Paige Owens

half•alive — “Sophie’s House”

For fans of staying up way too late with best friends.

half•alive’s new single “Sophie’s House” from their upcoming album Persona is produced by Tommy King (The 1975, Vampire Weekend). It blends indie pop and soulful funk with nostalgic, introspective lyrics. The song reflects on youthful memories and long nights spent with friends while experiencing the bittersweet realization of changing times. Through its evocative lyrics—”times that were dangerous, times that were wonderful”—the track captures a yearning for the past while embracing new beginnings. Persona is set to release on November 15. —Eddie Barella

Sicksense — “Wildfires”

Sicksense has been making significant, loud, and heavy waves in the metal scene for quite some time, and soon the rest of the world will experience their sonic amazing-ness! “Wildfires” is exactly what the band represents: confidence! It’s unapologetic, uniquely nü-metal, and an absolute headbanger of sound. Frontman Rob The Ripper says, “‘Wildfires’ is a special song for all the fans who love us, and it’s especially for our fans in denial who love to hate us.” And this is only the beginning for the band. Their debut full-length album, Cross Me Twice, has been slated to drop in February 2025, and the excitement around the release is palpable! Pre-order the album here! —Sasha Capelli

Avralize — “Upside Down”

Just over half a year since dropping their debut album FREAKS, Avralize has come out of nowhere and done it again with their new single, “Upside Down.” This young German quartet proves their ability to seamlessly combine beefy breakdowns with super technical, often “noodly,” playing throughout every track since their inception. A crushing breakdown straight into a slick, melodic guitar solo? What’s not to love?!

Blending jazz, R&B, pop, and deathcore influences, this track bleeds with infectious synth/electronic elements, punchy drums, insane bass and guitar tapping, and soaring riffs. It also delivers not one but two crushing breakdowns, complete with a gnarly squeal and a catchy chorus as a cherry on top, all tightly packed into the 4-minute soundscape.

“Upside Down” is the kind of song that is used as a blueprint on how to write a track for an entire genre for years to come and easily a metalcore song of the year contender. —Patrick Walford

2/14 — “Can I Be Your Oli Sykes?”

2/14’s “Can I Be Your Oli Sykes?” is not only catchy, melodic, and riff city, but lyrically it’s awesome. When you read the lyrics, it’s impossible not to relate every line to your time in high school. It has hints of old Fall Out Boy and Four Year Strong. Who wouldn’t want to have their own Oli Sykes? Hopefully, 2/14 became Oli for someone! —Fish
