Amazon is being sneakier than usual, lately. The company is taking a break from their usual hat trick of not reminding you when to cancel your Amazon Prime trial, and instead they decided to keep their 13 Day Vinyl Giveaway more or less a secret. Beginning on Friday, Oct. 23, Amazon began a daily contest to give away a selection of records to support their recently-relaunched vinyl store.
The news of the vinyl giveaway didn’t reach people until Day 4, when Pigeons and Planes reported that Amazon would be giving away three copies of Led Zeppelin I. Days 2 and 3 consisted of Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumours” and Miles Davis’ “Kind of Blue,” and one lucky winner apparently won a TEAC turntable and three albums from The Beatles on the first day of the contest — probably because he was the only one who even entered. Thanks, Amazon.
Amazon will announce each day’s album at 9 a.m. PDT/noon EDT, and you can enter only once each day. The contest is only open to U.S. residents, so Europeans will have to actually shop Amazon’s vinyl store. The 13 Day Vinyl Giveaway ends Wednesday, Nov. 4. Click here for official rules and to enter for today’s vinyl prize, The Rolling Stones’ “Sticky Fingers.”
