Another early morning, headed out of San Diego and the comfort of a lush pullout bed. The local Starbucks and Whole Foods combo got me pumped for the drive up to L.A., with a quick pit stop shortly after in Anaheim to catch up with an old friend. The Anaheim Packing District, previously a Sunkist factory, was full of interesting food adventure with foliage and a porch swing inside. After soaking up some lush WiFi and a healthy “what’s new with life” chat, we were back on the road to Los Angeles, coming in hot to The Troubadour.
Thus far the hottest I’ve been at a show in a long while, and I don’t mean because of my sick Cher Horowitz inspired foam platforms, that place was a toaster oven. Beach Weather, as they have been, keep getting better with every set. Unfortunately my footage got lost in the cloud for those guys, let your imagination loose.
The Maine brought down the toasty house with a playful set, bringing up a fan from their hometown to dance on stage, and breaking into an impromptu cover of 311’s Amber. Bassist Garrett Nickelsen took over vocals, and nailed it. A pleasant surprise, and a warm welcome to West Hollywood.
