Rise Rock n’ Shine: Wolf & Chain + Max Bennett Kelly

Brighten up your day with brand new bops.

It’s time to Rise Rock n’ Shine…

Who: If emo is dead, Wolf & Chain are necromancers. The Adelaide band makes sure the next generation is raised on the theatrical rock n’ roll millennials came to love, starting with their 2020 EP An Honest Mistake.

What: Catch the new music video for title track “An Honest Mistake”.

Why: You might have graduated years ago but you’ll be right back in high school when you hit play on “An Honest Mistake”. The prom-centered video gives us “Dance Dance” vibes, but this throwback is beyond visual aesthetic. When you discovered “the scene” it was probably thanks to a song like this. Vocalist Jack Cumes quickly switches from aggressive shouts to sing along harmonies, while the rest of the band goes to work on creating a chaotic atmosphere. It’s music for the love of it, and it’ll give you that same rush you got when you heard Set It Off for the first time.

“We wanted to take some of the narrative elements and themes from the EP and apply them to a different world. We felt like an 80s high school prom would be a great setting to express some of that angst and be able to play with something quite different visually. We wanted it to feel more like a movie and have some fun with it.” – Jack Cumes, vocalist for Wolf & Chain

Who: In a world where genre boundaries are disappearing, creativity reigns. New artist Max Bennett Kelly has caught onto the fact, adding his own flair to TikTok covers and viral skits before introducing us to his own creation.

What: Hear his impossibly catchy new tune, “TUKWILA SODA LIME”.

Why: “TUKWILA SODA LIME” sounds like a chill summer night with a drink in hand. Living between the realms of pop punk, rap, and mainstream pop, the song was made to be chanted along to when you’re just a little bit tipsy. It’ll be the perfect soundtrack to those nights you make new memories with old friends. Since we can’t do that yet, the song will make the waiting a little more bearable—and help you plan all your post-quarantine shenanigans.
