We slept in. And took baths. I could have sworn I heard a choir of angels singing. Tabitha and I did the usual, locate a Whole Foods for a plant-based pastry and some much needed coffee, then head out on the road. I can’t remember a time I’ve ever wished for a day to be uneventful, until this one right here. Our drive to Fresno from San Francisco was just that; we resisted the urge to stop at an alpaca farm and arrived just in time to replace some necessities in a Forever 21. My sunglasses had been sunny-napped, and her jeans lost the button in the accident. Thank the Lord for that super store of cheapness. Having learned our valuable lesson, we then dropped everything but ourselves off at our luxury motel before going to the venue.
Strummers had gathered a line that extended far down the street, where many had been waiting for hours. After piling in, Beach Weather started the night off sounding better than they ever had. Unfortunately, the crowd was physically hot, but not at all warm enough. By the time The Maine took the stage, we were sweaty and friendly. This set was tough to make it through, as a crowd, and also visibly challenging for the band members. After the show, we hung around and chatted with some other fans, and witnessed tour manager Tanner Radcliffe challenge bassist Garrett Nickelsen to a lightsaber duel. Complete with imaginary lost limbs.
A recurring theme, hungry and tired, we drove through Taco Bell and met a lovely lady that prepared the best mexican-ish food that seventeen dollars could buy. Full of rice, beans, and crispy potatoes, we slept like babies.
