MAX & Ali Gatie’s New Single Gives idobi “Butterflies” & We Share Them With You

MAX and Ali Gatie transport us on the dreamy waves of their new track “Butterflies”. They take us back to milestone moments of love, and forward into hopes of what love may become. “Butterflies” isn’t just a pretty song, full of R&B soulfulness, luscious vocals, and electro-pop sparkle, it has a heartbeat you can rock with, while you celebrate the times in life that serve up unforgettable flutters. And your heart will sing along.

“Our whole key word for this song has always been “warmth”. With every aspect, from the music video to the song itself, we just wanted people to feel love and warm energy. I hope people love it” ~MAX

When MAX released his debut album in 2016, he stopped by to hang out with idobi for a Release Day Listening Party. It was the beginning of what we already knew would be a career full of fireworks & feels. That’s why there is a sense of synchronicity in featuring the release of his very first single with Warner Records. “Butterflies” is a song your heart already knows because it reflects those moments of magic and memory when words flee but emotions fly. And so, today we’re sharing our notes on butterflies. Don’t hesitate to tell us yours:

When the pandemic hit I had no roommate and like everyone else was forced to stay in. The first 3 weeks were tough, being I’m very social most of the time, so I went online to look for a dog to foster. Within the first 10 seconds of holding him I was giving the rescue all the cash in my wallet so I could keep him. Now, 14 months later, every morning I come out of my room and see him for the first time and I get butterflies. Just like when the rescue put him in my arms for the first time.
(Mike “Fish” Fishkin)

You know that feeling when you’re at a concert and you can just tell that your song—the one that makes you scream at the top of your lungs, the one that makes your heartbeat a little faster, the one that you’re absolutely getting tattooed on your body, the one you wish you could bottle up for those sad days when you need a pick-me-up—when you know that song is coming up next? That moment gives me butterflies. It’s the moment I live for from the second the lights dim and the band comes on stage to the minute I leave the club thinking, “I’m so glad I was there to hear it live.” (Sam Devotta)

A few things that give me “butterflies” are trying new donut shops, the thought of meeting Joe Jonas in real life, and catching legendary Pokemon. (Aud Lew)

Hiking to the top of Angels Landing in Zion National Park, Sleeping Beauty’s Castle at Disneyland, the view from Griffith Observatory, and my childhood home all give me butterflies. More than that, when I think back to the moments I’ve spent at those places, the people I shared those memories with amplify those butterflies by ten. Those are the people who have loved me at my lowest and celebrated me at my highest. And I hope to always get that feeling when I think back to those touching memories. (Maddi Myers)

A tiny team of butterflies trounces through my stomach every morning these days. I wake up and walk down the hall to my 8-month-old son’s room. As soon as he sees me, his little face lights up in the purest, cherubic grin. Hail to trouncing butterflies and infant smiles! (Briton Alexander)

When my sister gave birth to her son, six years ago, I had no idea I’d be getting a twin-nephew. He and I share so many of the things we love, from superheroes to anime to drawing for hours. We’re so alike. I have had to apologize to my sister, repeatedly, because he is also a pedant (perpetually defending precise language) just like me. I sincerely beg my family for forgiveness. Being separated from him during the lockdown has been hard on us both. The other day he called to ask, “Tia, are you lonely?” I thought I might cry. “Not at all. I have you,” I said. “Were you worried about me?” “Yes,” he sighed. And that’s when the butterflies and the salty-face-rain happened. That love is so pure, the heart flutters. (Sherin Nicole)
