The Chicago alt-rock band, which includes The Academy Is…’s Adam Siska and suburban indie rockstar, Snow Ellet dropped their single “Like A Blister.” The track comes from their upcoming debut album, Overthinking Everything, which arrives on March 1 via Tiny Engines. Vocalist Ryan Nolen started the project in 2022, and the latest song encapsulates a montage of melancholia. Chicago natives The Academy Is… have parted ways after 9 years, 3 studio albums, and 4 EPs.
The Academy Is… posted the following statement on their website today announcing the departure of drummer Andy Mrotek and guitarist Michael Chislett.
Mest will be tonight’s studio guest on DJ Rossstar’s Punk Show at 7 p.m. PT (10 p.m. ET). The pop-punk band called it quits in 2006 but singer Tony Lovato is reviving Mest by himself with a free E.P. and U.S. tour on the way.
