There is no chance that Axl Rose and his former Guns N’ Roses bandmate Slash will reunite. One of the pair will “die” before such an event could occur, Axl Rose said. The frontman told Billboard that the dispute between the pair would never be healed. He went on to say that Guns N’ Roses in its current guise, could tour in the near future. “In regards to Slash,” he said, “I read a desperate fan’s message about, ‘What if one of us were to die, and looking back I had the possibility of a reunion now.’ My thoughts are,… Read more »
Guns N’ Roses/Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash has released a video in support of gay marriage. In the video clip, Slash plays the national anthem ” The Star-Spangled Banner ” on guitar in the background while his wife, Perla Hudson, speaks out on behalf of same-sex unions . “I married my sweetheart, you should be able to marry yours too,” she says. “Say no to hate and yes to equal rights. After Velvet Revolver wraps a spring tour in support of its second album, “Libertad,” frontman Scott Weiland will rejoin his former bandmates in Stone Temple Pilots for a handful of summer reunion shows, guitarist Slash told Billboard.com. In the meantime, Weiland and his Velvet Revolver bandmates are still plugging away in support of “Libertad” with dates that run through early April. There’s also the hope that recording for album No. 3 could begin… Read more »
Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash says the group is planning a significantly shorter turnaround for its third album. The Los Angeles rockers plan to start working in earnest on the follow-up to last year’s “Libertad” in April, almost immediately after they finish a tour that starts Thursday in Chicago and includes dates in North America, Australia and Europe. “That’s the big thing right now,” Slash says. “I’m really jazzed about doing it. I’ve been working on new ideas, and we’ve had a couple times where the guys all got together and worked on some stuff. I’m itching to see what this… Read more »
Gibson Guitar will release eight new Slash-branded guitars on March 15, and is taking the current models affiliated with the Velvet Revolver guitarist off the market. Why eight? “Price points,” says Henry Juszkiewicz, chairman and CEO of Gibson Guitar. “They’re going to go from cheap to high-end custom, personally signed by Slash.” Also on tap for this year is a new Jimmy Page guitar. “The ink is still drying on the deal,” Juszkiewicz says. “It’s going to be a special guitar.”
The nonstop party that is the life of Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee for about the past 20 years gets cranked up several notches on his upcoming solo album, Tommyland: The Ride, which is due in August. And although he knows it’s a cliché, he swears the album is the best thing he’s ever done. “It’s true, this is the best thing I’ve ever done!” Tommy yelled from a stop on the Mötley Crüe reunion tour. “I mean, people will be like, ‘Is that f–ing Tommy?’ It’s like an event record.” That much is true, as Tommy has invited a… Read more »
The newly private Warner Music Group, having significantly reduced its worldwide staff, is now turning its cost-cutting efforts toward its artists. As part of the integration of Atlantic and Elektra into one label, Warner Music Group’s new management team is looking at the artist roster with the goal of paring it “from 180 to below 100,” says WMG U.S. Recorded Music chairman/CEO Lyor Cohen. The company is attempting to get the roster down to a size that’s in proportion with the organization and respectful of the acts remaining on the roster, Cohen says. It’s unclear which specific artists might get… Read more »
