It wasn’t a very good night for openers Killswitch Engage, as they announced right before their set that their singer had “blown his voice” and Unearth’s frontman (who already sang that night) would be filling in. Fortunately, no angry rioting ensued, not even when they cut their set short and promised to bring a better show through town next time. Paul McCartney and Rolling Stones singer-guitarist Keith Richards are among those paying tribute to Johnny Cash on an upcoming two-disc career retrospective. The Essential Johnny Cash, due February 26 from Columbia/Legacy Records, features more than 30 testimonials to Cash from artists including McCartney, Richards, Bono and the Edge of U2, Elvis Costello, former Vice President Al Gore, and even Shawn Crahan of the heavy metal band Slipknot. Slipknot have postponed their upcoming tour, which was scheduled to kick off on November 21st in Fargo, North Dakota, until next year. The twenty-four-city tour in support of the band’s latest album, Iowa, was also to feature 40 Below Summer. The postponement is due to percussionist Shawn Crahan’s (a.k.a. Number Six, a.k.a. the Clown) wife having just undergone surgery for Crohn’s disease. Her recuperation is expected to take six weeks, during which Crahan will remain in Iowa to care for her and their three young children.
