Her Bright Skies – Rivals: Album Review

Lost in a never-ending cacophony of American-inspired guitar squeals, hammering drum beats, and amped-up vocals, the third release from the Swedish-based Her Bright Skies is an angsty young adult power piece whose volume is fit for an arena but whose calamitous structure and predictable composition should be left in the garage.

Rivals fear spread of piracy after Apple/EMI music-video deal

Media industry executives and analysts have expressed surprise and alarm at last week’s decision by EMI, the record label, to start selling music videos without the protection of anti-piracy software. Ahead of their Louder Than Life set today, September 26, Point North has dropped their latest offering, “WORLD {vs} PEACE.” “The sentiment behind ‘WORLD {vs} PEACE’ touches on the struggle or the battle that somebody—either you or someone you love—can go through while they’re trying to find their own inner peace,” the band explains in a press release. “It’s almost like a defense mechanism, it’s like you’re so used to these detrimental or traumatic scenarios where inner peace is so unfamiliar that you just naturally want to fight it off.” They continue, “It’s almost like you have this Stockholm syndrome… Read more »
