Paul McCartney is returning to his Fireman alias after a decade away from the musical collaboration with producer Youth. McCartney will release “Electric Arguments” by the Fireman on November 17 via MPL, an imprint of his London-based publishing company. The 13-track album will be manufactured and distributed by U.K. indie One Little Indian worldwide except in the U.S., where ATO will issue it. The ex-Beatle on Monday was awarded an honorary Doctor of Music degree from Yale University. In granting the honorary degree to McCartney – Sir Paul McCartney since he was knighted in 1996 – the university said no one compares with the legendary songwriter. The erstwhile Beatle has become the first artist to sign with Starbucks’ fledgling Hear Music label, a new venture between the latte purveyor and Concord Music Group, the company said Wednesday, confirming rumors surrounding the deal. The Family Way, Paul McCartney’s first try at film music, has been rereleased by the Montreal-based XXI-21 Records label. McCartney scored the British film in late 1966, while the Beatles were on break between the Revolver and Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band albums. The original version of the album was only 24 minutes long, with McCartney’s music performed mostly by the Claudel String Quartet. Beatles fans received a double treat Tuesday with announcements of a new world tour by Paul McCartney and the release of a DVD of a 1994 jam session by McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison. McCartney said he plans to include several Beatles songs in his first British tour in a decade, scheduling 22 songs from his Fab Four days for each two-and-a-half hour arena concert. McCartney quoted the opening lines of “Penny Lane,” the song he penned about a street in his hometown of Liverpool, in a note to an old family friend.
