BEIJING — Oasis will not play in China for economic reasons and not because of any connection with the Tibet issue, an official at the promoter of the shows said. Oasis had said China blocked shows scheduled for Shanghai and Beijing after they found out that band member Noel Gallagher had appeared at a “Free Tibet” benefit concert in the United States in 1997. But a promoter from Beijing All Culture Communication Co Ltd, a small event company which promotes more ballet and traditional Chinese concerts than rock concerts told Reuters by telephone it was canceled due to a “tough… Read more »
Oasis are back with a new video, this time for “Falling Down,” the latest single of the band’s Dig Out Your Soul. Directed by Wiz, the video’s plot seems pretty clear, as we follow a bright-eyed, luxurious young woman from random people’s beds to random drug dens. Later on, we see the woman putting on a crown, meaning that she’s regal or something, and on a red carpet event Oasis’ Gallagher brothers both snub the woman, hinting that one or both of them got it on with a member of the Royal Family. How do we know she’s a member… Read more »

The BBC reports that Geoff Emerick, the engineer in charge of the original sessions, will use the same equipment… Read more »
Oasis will realise a long-held dream at the 2007 Brit Awards later this month, receiving their Outstanding Contribution award from Ringo Starr himself. The Beatles drummer has been invited to present the band their career prize after Johnny Depp, who had originally been asked to present the award, was forced to cancel his appearance over scheduling conflicts. Oasis are famously big supporters of The Beatles, owing them much musically in their songwriting style, and will be realising a dream receiving the Brit Award from one of their heroes. A source tells The Sun, “It is the ultimate accolade for the… Read more »
Bombastic, brawling, brilliant… there are many adjectives that have been used to describe Oasis – and many of the most flattering ones have come directly from the group itself. As with anything the marble-mouthed Manchester lads put out, Don’t Believe the Truth, their first album since 2002’s Heathen Chemistry, is sure to earn them many more colorful descriptions. “Lyla,” the first single, will sate any hunger pangs for Oasis’ familiar guitar jangles. But if you ask Noel Gallagher, he’ll tell you the truth about the song: It wasn’t his first – or even second – choice. “We’d just forgotten about… Read more »

MUNICH, Germany – Prosecutors have dropped an investigation of Oasis singer Liam Gallagher over a 2002 brawl at a Munich hotel in exchange for a $65,200 fine, a spokesman said Monday. The Dec. 1, 2002, fight at the hotel left Gallagher with several broken teeth, and police said at the time that he had kicked an officer outside the hotel’s nightclub. Anton Winkler, a spokesman for Munich prosecutors, said contradictory statements by those involved left authorities unable to clearly establish who started the brawl. “We have closed the investigation against the payment” of $65,200, he said. Gallagher, 32, had been… Read more »
British rock band Oasis has fired drummer Alan White, according to a terse post on its official Web site (http://www.oasisinet.com). “Alan White has been asked to leave Oasis by the other band members.
