The Met Gala took over media yesterday as celebrities displayed their most outrageous takes on this year’s theme, “Camp: Notes on Fashion”. “Camp” in this use is about exaggeration, about artifice. My favorite explanation: “Camp sees everything in quotation marks. It’s not a lamp, but a ‘lamp’; not a woman, but a ‘woman.’” ALL THE FASHION, ALL THE JEWELRY, ALL THE … heads? Yup. Jared Leto, frontman of 30 Seconds to Mars (aka Jordan Catalano from My So-Called Life), came decked out in a red ensemble covered in jewels carrying a replica of his own head. On Thursday, Jared Leto decided to hold an impromptu gathering of 30 Seconds to Mars fans at the Hive, the gallery/communal space he and his bandmates run on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles.
Jared Leto is keeping the eyeliner on for the foreseeable future. The actor-musician-ladies’ man has released a statement addressed to friends and fans making absolutely clear that his band, 30 Seconds to Mars, has no intention of breaking up–despite Virgin Records America suing the group for $30 million for failing to deliver on a five-album contract. “We are incredibly happy, healthy and very much together here, in Los Angeles, recording our new record,” the 36-year-old Leto says in a forum posting on 30 STM’s website. “Besides this ridiculously overblown lawsuit…we are having one of the most inspiring, wonderful and exciting… Read more »
It’s 30 Seconds to Mars. And about half that to file a lawsuit. Jared Leto and his bandmate brother, Shannon, were sued Friday by Virgin Records America for failing to come through on a five-album deal the eyelinered duo and the now-defunct indie label, Immortal Records, inked with the plaintiff nine years ago. While Leto used a couple of those years to appear in movies like Girl, Interrupted and American Psycho, his band eventually got the ball rolling with its 2002 self-titled debut. The alt-rockers followed that up with 2005’s A Beautiful Lie. But since their sophomore effort, according to… Read more »
Jared Leto was left with a broken nose and several other injuries as a concert appearance by his rock band 30 Seconds To Mars lifted the roof at a concert hall in El Paso, Texas. Leto was injured when he ran into the crowd during one of his band’s biggest hits “The Kill”, according to the band’s record label, during a show last week which also featured several other acts under the ‘Taste of Chaos’ banner. The break was unintentional and caused when thousands of fans surged forward as Leto prowled the floor of County Coliseum. The singer and actor… Read more »
